APPRENTICESHIPS
The UK government’s Apprenticeships site gives general information for employers and employees on training.
This user friendly handbook was created to support the employer and apprentice to deliver a higher level apprenticeship in Bespoke tailoring & Cutting. The contents have been written in easy to find sections that enable the employer to implement a quality system and provide the apprentice with support for their training.

THE BENEFITS OF WOOL
The Campaign For Wool was launched in 2010 to educate consumers about the benefits of wool and help to support and grow the wool industry. Run by a coalition of industry groups convened by His Majesty King Charles III, when he was The Prince of Wales, the Campaign works to engage consumers through exciting fashion, interiors and artisan activities centring around Wool Month each year. Women In Tailoring works with The Campaign to further cement industry ties with mills, merchants and wool growers all over the world.
HUMAN RESOURCES
Acas is an independent public body that receives funding from the government.
They provide free and impartial advice to employers, employees and their representatives on:
- employment rights
- best practice and policies
- resolving workplace conflict
- changes in employment law
When things go wrong, they help to resolve workplace disputes between employers and employees.
AN ORAL HISTORY OF SAVILE ROW
Tailored Stories – An Oral History Of Savile Row is a 2015 project celebrating the history and skills of the men and women in the industry with candid stories of pride and hardship, working conditions, conflict and camaraderie and brushes with the famous and powerful. Most of all, this project puts those who have made the area synonymous with the highest quality craftsmanship at the centre of this history.
The project was brought to life by students from fashion courses at Kensington and Chelsea College, the London College of Fashion and the arts and education charity, digital-works.
TRADE AND DEVELOPMENT ADVICE
UK Fashion & Textile Association, the UKFT, is the industry’s leading trade association and Sector Skills Body, they are committed to delivering sustainable growth for the entire UK fashion and textile supply chain.
They bring together brands, designers, manufacturers, suppliers, educators and retailers to promote their businesses and our industry. They offer practical advice on apprenticeships and technical support to help member companies grow and trade internationally.
